Writer, director, and producer Nora Ephron "is arguably one of the most powerful women in Hollywood," according to Noreen Taylor in the London Times. In her dozen screenplays and half-dozen directorial works, Ephron has established herself as a savvy, sassy witness of how it feels to be a woman in the late twentieth century. The creator and purveyor of movies about women with guts, as in Silkwood and This Is My life, Ephron is also a humorous chronicler of the dating and mating game, the writer-director of "old-fashioned romantic comedies primarily aimed at women," as Bonnie Rothman Morris stated in the New York Women in Film and Television newsletter.
