Nathan Aaseng is a prolific writer of juvenile nonfiction and fiction with over 130 titles to his credit. While much of his early work was done in the field of sports, writing several popular series such as "You Are the Coach" for the Minneapolis-based Lerner Publications, he has branched out into a broad range of themes that include general science, biography, business innovation, and Nobel Prize winners. His varied interests have taken him from a study of invertebrates to Navajo code talkers in World War II; from a profile of the Olympian Bruce Jenner to an account of the O. J. Simpson murder trial. Yet for Aaseng, a self-described "Norwegian Lutheran" with a wry sense of humor, this is only the beginning. "At this point in my career, I must admit that I have not reached a single goal that I set for myself when I decided to enter the business of writing," he wrote in an essay for Something about the Author Autobiography Series (SAAS).
