A Writer in the Making
Born in New York City, Pascal moved from Manhattan to Jamaica, Queens, when she was five. Movies, adventure comics, and fairy tales were among Pascal's many passions, and because there was no young adult literature at the time, she read the classics. "I have always had a very active imagination--my retreat when things don't go right," Pascal once told Authors and Artists for Young Adults (AAYA). "I realized early that this set me apart from most people. For example, it wasn't my habit to confide in others very much, particularly my parents.
