Star Wars director George Lucas was for Fincher like living near God. It also gave him a definite edge when he decided to go into films as a high school grad; rejecting a four-year sentence at film school, he instead took a job loading camera film for Korty Films, then went down the street to neighbor Lucas. By 1983, he was working for Lucas's special effects company, Industrial Light and Magic.
