Dave Marsh is the author or editor of over thirty books on rock music, including biographies of Bruce Springsteen, Elvis, Michael Jackson, Neil Young, and bands such as the Who, Black Sabbath, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Sly and the Family Stone. A regular contributor to some of the nation's most influential music magazines, Marsh has become one of the best-known and most respected critics in the music business, dubbed the Methuselah of rock criticism by a contributor for Mother Jones. "Rock and roll is not just music," Marsh once told a Publishers Weekly contributor. "It's one of the most important things that's ever happened in American culture." Rock music has also been an important influence on Marsh's life, beginning with his childhood in a blue-collar suburb of Detroit, continuing through his first experience with writing, and culminating in his position as editor of Rock & Rap Confidential.
