To date, she has published more than 50 romance novels, a book of poetry, and about a dozen books for children. Approximately two dozen television movies have been produced based on Danielle Steel novels. Since 1981, she has been an almost permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover, trade, paperback, and mass market bestseller lists, and has produced over 450 million books in print. In 1981 Steel was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having one of her books on the New York Times bestseller list for 381 weeks. (Since that time, she has broken her own record.)
