Bernie Williams had a decision to make as a child growing up in Puerto Rico. He could try to start a career as a guitar player or live out his father's dream and try to become a major league baseball player. Fortunately for the fans of the New York Yankees he decided to develop his talents on the baseball diamond and leave the concert hall behind. With two World Series rings (1996 and 1998) Williams has taken his place with the great Yankee center fielders of the past.

Bernabe Figueroa Williams Jr. was born September 13, 1968. He grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico and was the eldest son of a merchant marine, Bernabe Williams Sr., and a high school principal, Rufina Williams. Williams learned to play guitar at the age of eight.
