Alfred Eisenstaedt Biography

"In seven decades of clicking away with his 35-mm camera, photojournalist Alfred Eisenstaedt documented so many faces and events, one almost invariably sees the century through his eyes," commented a contributor to People Weekly upon the death of this pioneering photographer in 1995 at the age of ninety-six. Indeed, Eisenstaedt's numerous images--by his own estimate, he took over a million shots in his lifetime, over 2,500 of which were for Life magazine--take the viewer into many of the critical as well as sublime moments of the twentieth century.
