Attanasio is a prominent writer of science fiction, fantasy, and historical novels whose major works include the "Radix Tetrad" and the "Tales of Arthor" series, as well as stand-alone titles such as the popular Wyvern, the historical novel Kingdom of the Grail, and Hunting the Ghost Dancer. Writing under the name Adam Lee, Attanasio has also published several titles in "The Dominions of Irth" fantasy series. Popular in England as well as the United States, the Hawaii-dwelling Attanasio is, according to a reviewer for St. James Guide to Science Fiction Writers, "primarily a visualist. The worlds he creates are vivid, drawn in lucent and poetic detail."
