Thunderhead (Arc of a Scythe) Overview

Thunderhead is the second book in Neal Shusterman’s Arc of a Scythe young adult science fiction series, following Citra Terranova and Rowan Damisch, teenagers who have recently become involved in the Scythedom, an organization that oversees the deaths of all people. In this installment, Rowan masquerades as Scythe Lucifer, who eliminates corrupt scythes, and Citra is the newly ordained Scythe Anastasia. Meanwhile, the Thunderhead, an advanced technology system that governs all of humanity, begins to interfere indirectly with the Scythedom. Shusterman explores the themes of lawfulness, deviating from society, power and authority, faith and religion, and identity.
