The Yiddish Policemen's Union Overview

The Yiddish Policemen’s Union is an alternative history novel set in the year 2007. Sixty years prior, all Jews were exiled from Jerusalem and the surrounding areas, and they therefore had to make settlements in other parts of the world. The novel takes place in a Jewish settlement called Sitka, which is located in Alaska. Meyer Landsman, a detective for the Sitka Central Police Department, investigates a murder in the weeks leading up to Reversion, when Sitka will be dissolved by the United States government. The novel addresses themes of love, friendship, justice, morality, and religion.
