"The Windhover" is a sonnet by English poet Gerard Manley Hopkins. It was first published posthumously in 1918 in the collection Poems of Gerard Manley Hopkins. Dedicated to "Christ our Lord," the poem features a speaker observing a bird hovering and swooping down to earth.
