The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse Overview

In William Saroyan's first person short story "The Summer of the Beautiful White Horse," nine-year-old Aram cannot believe his eyes when his cousin, Mourad, appears outside his window one morning riding a horse. Since he does not want to believe Mourad is a thief, and he is desperate to learn how to ride, Aram joins his cousin's dreamlike adventure. When Aram discovers to whom the horse actually belongs, he must decide whether or not to turn his cousin in. The narrative explores themes including honesty and purity.
