The Sojourn Overview

"The Sojourn" is the story of Jozef Vinich, born in Colorado to Slovak immigrant Ondrej. Due to circumstances beyond his control, Ondrej must abandon his dream of living in America to take his infant son back to their homeland on the edges of Austria-Hungary. There he raises Jozef in the small life of a shepherd, but infuses him with skills and knowledge that benefit him when the biggest upheaval of their time occurs, in the form of The Great War. Jozef and his adopted brother Zlee go off to war and learn lessons of hardship and strength, the benefits of home and belonging, and the choice between hope and despair.
