Diane Chamberlain's The Secret Sister, is a mystery novel told from various points of view, although the majority of the story is told from Riley MacPherson's perspective. In the story Riley goes home to sort out her father's estate only to open up a host of secrets. Riley's childhood was characterized by the suicide of her sister Lisa, who was so much older than Riley, she barely remembers her. However, after living in her father's house for a few days, Riley uncovers, layer by layer, secrets surrounding Lisa's death, starting with the fact that Lisa was an accused murderer and ending with a hint that she may be alive. Numerous residents of the town, including Riley's brother Danny, have a stake in what Riley finds out, but the lonely young woman is so desperate to retain her family that she is willing to dig deeper and deeper to find the truth.
