The Sanatorium Overview

Sarah Pearse's The Sanitorium is set at a remote hotel in the Swiss Alps that has recently been converted from a medical sanitorium. When Elin gets a letter from her estranged brother inviting her to his engagement party at Le Sommet, she decides she will go in order to uncover a secret about their shared childhood so she can emotionally move on from their younger brother's death and return to her job as a detective in England. However, when Elin arrives at the hotel, an avalanche traps her and the other guests inside with a murderer who is actively attacking victims. The novel explores isolation, passion, repression, history, and story.
