The Saints of Swallow Hill Overview

In Donna Everhart's novel The Saints of Swallow Hill, when both Del Reese and Rae Lynn Cobb are forced to flee their homes, they run to Swallow Hill turpentine camp hoping for a new start. Although the camp subjects them to brutal circumstances, Swallow Hill affords Del and Rae Lynn a temporary escape from their past traumas and mistakes. Over the course of the novel, their budding romance forces the characters into confrontation with who they have been and who they want to be. Written from the third person limited point of view, the novel explores themes including memory, grief, and the future.
