The Meursault Investigation Overview

Harun Uld el-Assas seeks to give a name to his murdered brother, a significant but nameless character in a novel written by his killer. The Meursault Investigation by Kamel Daoud. Harun speaks on behalf of his brother to a graduate student interested in a writing a story about the murder from the viewpoint of the victim. While Harun does not have many fresh details to give him about his brother and his death, he does tell him the story of his own act of murdering a Frenchman who invaded the property on which he and his mother were living shortly after the end of the War of Liberation. Harun describes the way his own life came to mirror that of his brother’s killer.
