Helen Hoang’s novel The Kiss Quotient follows 30 year old Stella after she hires an escort, Michael, to teach her how to be good at sex. Diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, Stella is averse to many sensory experiences including sex. With Michael, she is able to enjoy sex for the first time and they both start falling for each other but worry about the temporary nature of their relationship. Hoang’s novel addresses the themes of autism, sex, obsession, violence, and soulmates.
