Ridley Township is a township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 30,791 at the 2000 census. Students residing within the district generally attend schools within the Ridley School District, although there are several Catholic schools (operated by the Archdiocese of Philadelphia) located in the township as well.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 5.3 square miles (13.6 km²), of which, 5.1 square miles (13.1 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²) of it (3.80%) is water.

As of the census² of 2000, there were 30,791 people, 12,121 households, and 8,218 families residing in the township. The population density was 6,075.9 people per square mile (2,344.9/km²). There were 12,544 housing units at an average density of 2,475.3/sq mi (955.3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 92.97% White, 4.26% African American, 0.07% Native American, 1.64% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.21% from other races, and 0.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.92% of the population. There were 12,121 households out of which 30.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% were married couples living together, 11.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% were non-families. 28.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 3.14. In the township the population was spread out with 24.4% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 21.0% from 45 to 64, and 17.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 92.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.0 males. The median income for a household in the township was $45,918, and the median income for a family was $54,581. Males had a median income of $41,504 versus $29,972 for females. The per capita income for the township was $21,437. About 5.0% of families and 6.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 8.0% of those under age 18 and 9.0% of those age 65 or over.
