Pavel Vladimirovich Vinogradov (Russian: Павел Владимирович Виноградов) (born August 31, 1953 in Magadan, Russia) is a cosmonaut. As of 2006, he was one of the top 25 astronauts in terms of total time in space. Vinogradov graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute in 1977. He subsequently worked as an aerospace engineer for RKK Energiya. He was selected for the cosmonaut program on March 3, 1992, and spent the next two years in training.

Space flights

Vinogradov was the backup flight engineer for the Soyuz TM-22 flight, which left for space on September 3, 1995. He was assigned to the Soyuz TM-24 flight, but the entire crew was grounded when the flight commander, G. Manakov, experienced heart problems. Vinogradov flew as the Flight Engineer on Soyuz TM-26 on August 5, 1997, living on Mir until returning to Earth on February 19, 1998. During their 197 days, 17 hours, and 34 minutes in space, Vinogradov and expedition leader Anatoly Solovyev carried out five spacewalks, totalling 25 hours and 16 minutes. On March 30, 2006, he launched for the International Space Station on Soyuz TMA-8 as part of Expedition 13. He returned to Earth on September 28, 2006. Vinogradov is married and has three children.
