Path Finder is a file browser developed by Cocoatech, built as a Finder replacement for the Mac OS X operating system. It has a large amount of features ranging from the basic browsing of the local file system and shared network drives, to less common ones. Some examples of the more advanced features are: a built-in terminal, Subversion support, FTP support, tabs, StuffIt compression, plugin support, a text editor and hex viewer, an image viewer and editor, a PDF viewer, the ability to burn discs and create .dmg disc images, screenshot capabilities, advanced file info and previews, a Drop Stack feature that simplifies drag-and-drop operations and a utility that lists all running processes and applications and allows the user to kill them. Recent updates include support for Mac OS X v10.5 features such as Quick Look. The interface of Path Finder follows the common navigational file manager paradigm, also called the browser paradigm, as opposed to the spatial style. Most operations take place in a single window, although more windows or tabs can be opened. The interface can further be customized by enabling or disabling various panels and/or their corresponding functionality.
