Luma came from Jordan’s wealthy class. She was said to be shy and quiet like her father. Yet she had an independent streak and a deep passion for the welfare of the poor in her country. After she remained in the U.S. after graduation from college, those characteristics came together in a powerful way. She reached out to the impoverished boys of refugee families who had resettled in her hometown and gave them something to feel good about.
