On False Earths (Valerian) Overview

On False Earths (Valerian), by Jean-Claude Mézières and Pierre Christinis, is one in a series of graphic novels about the travels of two Spacio-Temporal agents, Valerian and Laureline. In this episode, a historian named Jadna is putting clones of Valerian in various situations. Supposedly, Jadna is using the clones to search for an alien being that is stealing historical documents and items from Earth. Laureline discovers that the unnamed alien is not a threat. She realizes that Jadna is using the Valerian clones to further her own historical research. The main themes are the ethical question about clones, the heroic roles of Valerian and Laureline, and Jadna's motivations.
