The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (国土交通省 Kokudo Kōtsūshō?), abbreviated MLIT, is a ministry of the Japanese government. It is the largest Japanese ministry in terms of employees, and the second-largest organ of the Japanese government after the Ministry of Defense.

Background

MLIT was established as part of the administrative reforms of January 6 2001, which merged the Ministry of Transport (運輸省 Un'yushō?), Ministry of Construction (建設省 Kensetsushō?), and the National Land Agency (国土庁 Kokudochō?).
