March: Book 2 Overview

John Lewis's book, “March, Book Two,” is the story of Lewis's early involvement with the quest for equal rights for blacks. Lewis believed in nonviolent demonstrations aimed at making small changes that would lead up to bigger changes. The story is set in two distinct time frames – the 1960s when the race movement was intensifying, and the day of former President Barack Obama's inauguration. The main themes are segregation and integration, the roles of fear and violence, and the role of the Civil Rights Movement.
