The M3 is an expressway connecting the central business district of Cape Town, South Africa, to the southern towns of Muizenberg and Simon's Town. It begins as a dual-carriage roadway at the M62 as Buitensingel Street in Gardens, then changes road name several times over 2km's from Orange Street, Annandale Rd and Mill St, when it then merges with Roeland St, it turns to a limited access motorway as De Waal Drive. It then merges with the N2 at Hospital Bend, right next to the Groote Schuur Hospital, and splits off as Rhodes Drive towards the University of Cape Town,. Through Newlands, it looses it's motorway status, as there are 5 traffic lights along this section. In this area the M3 changes to Paradise Road, then to Edinburgh Drive. Over Wynberg Hill, it becomes a motorway again as the Van Der Stel Freeway and proceeds southward through Constantia and Tokai before terminating just north of Muizenberg at exit 23.
