Looking For Salvation at the Dairy Queen Overview

This pastoral novel focuses on the large life lessons of Catherine Grace Cline, daughter of a preacher, living in 1960s small-town Georgia. Her mother passes away when Catherine Grace is six, and her mother’s departure causes a hole in Catherine’s life; a hole she fills with dreams of leaving her small town and living a big city life away from the scrutiny and expectations that come from being the daughter of the local preacher. She grows brave and true under the love and care of the townspeople. Eventually she is old enough to leave town, and she makes her way to Atlanta. For several months she has it all: the dream job, the house in the city, freedom and money of her own. But her family tugs at her, causing conflict she doesn’t know how to handle. It is only when family tragedy strikes that she must make peace with the life she was meant to lead.
