Into the Forest is a young adult survival novel by Jean Hegland in which two sisters, 17-year-old Nell and 18-year-old Eva endeavor to survive in California's forests after civilization has collapsed. Into the Forest deals with important and timeless themes ranging from a coming of age to the idea that women are just as capable of survival as men, to the understanding that, although the past influences the present, it does not have to determine the future.
