"Heritage" is a poem written by Countee Cullen, one of the most prominent poets of the Harlem Renaissance. The poem was published as part of the author's first collection of verse, titled Color, in 1925. "Heritage" uses evocative language to address the psychic tribulations of racism in America and the African-American subject's longing for a meaningful connection with an African homeland.
