Her Body and Other Parties is a collection of short stories by Carmen Maria Machado. The story mixes elements of a number of genres, from post-apocalyptic tale to TV series to horror story, but Machado adds her own unique alertness to women’s desires and fears, as well as their sexual experiences, in relationships with both men and women. The result is a powerful and eerie collection of stories in which women endure strange and even horrific trials even as they find themselves and make the connections that express their inner selves.
