King Henry VI, Part 1 Overview

King Henry VI, Part One by William Shakespeare is a play that examines the frequently dangerous game of politics in England brought on by the unexpected death of Henry V. His death opens the door for the Yorkists and Lancastrians to struggle for power as the Duke of Exeter attempts to prepare Henry VI for the throne. The English suffer losses in their battle against the French, but Henry VI brokers a deal for peace, and in the process, agrees to marry a young French princess named Margaret of Anjou.
