Green Grass, Running Water by Thomas King is a witty satire set in a modern Blackfoot community in Alberta, Canada. Trickster Coyote and a mysterious narrator try to tell a creation story, making some mistakes along the way. Lionel Red Dog, Alberta Frank, Charlie Looking Bear, and Eli Stands Alone reflect on their past choices and look toward the future as they reconvene at the annual Sun Dance.
