Green: A Novel Overview

Green by Sam Graham-Felsen takes place in Boston in the early 1990s. The novel follows David Greenfeld, a white sixth-grader in a predominantly black public school in Boston. In and around this setting, the novel explores ideas of racial tensions in American culture. David befriends a black student named Marlon Wellings. Their friendship is a source of positivity in both their lives, but instances of turbulence and hardship threaten to dissolve their friendship.
