Summary and Analysis

As Forrest Gump begins, we see a white feather floating against a blue sky. As it continues, we also see the skyline of a city. The feather finally comes to rest at the feet of Forrest Gump. He picks up the feather, moves a wrapped box, opens his suitcase, and puts the feather inside a Curious George book. A bus pulls up, and Forrest continues to sit quietly. A nurse comes and sits on the bench beside him, and he introduces himself: "Hello. My name is Forrest, Forrest Gump." He offers the woman a chocolate and tells her that his momma always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get."
