Draft No. 4: On the Writing Process Overview
Draft No. 4 is a collection of essays on writing penned by The New Yorker staff writer, prolific author, and professor John McPhee. Each of the eight essays deal with a specific topic or issue in writing creative nonfiction but are connected through unifying ideas and themes. McPhee is writing to a target audience of nonfiction writers and shares what he has learned from his own career which spans multiple decades as both a writer and a writing teacher. Draft No. 4 deals with themes of a writer's freedom, the writing process, the authenticity of nonfiction, becoming a writer, and writing as selection.
