Daughter of the Deep Overview

In Rick Riordan's novel Daughter of the Deep, Ana Dakkar is a student at the Harding-Pencroft Academy – a school that prepares young people for careers in marine-related fields. Ana and her freshman classmates discover that Jules Verne “reported” the events in the classic novel 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The Nautilus is real. Ana, as a direct descendant of the real Captain Nemo, is the only person who can captain it. Ana and her classmates discover they are powerful when they work together and cope with the new realities of their world. The novel's main themes are technology, acceptance, and filling one's role.
