Coming, Aphrodite! Overview
“Coming, Aphrodite!” is a short story by Willa Cather. It was originally published as “Coming, Eden Bower!” in 1920. It follows painter Don Hedger and singer Eden Bower, who live in the same apartment building in New York City. Despite their contrasting personalities, they fall in love with each other. Unfortunately, their ambitions and differing ideas of success eventually contribute to the end of their relationship. The story explores themes of love, success, and personal affirmation.
