Boy Erased is a memoir by Garrard Conley. It follows Conley’s experiences as a teenager living in a fundamentalist Christian community in the American South. After he confessed his homosexuality to his parents, his parents entered him into a sexual reorientation program, which caused Conley further emotional trauma. The book explores themes of sexuality, family, religion, trauma, identity, and repression.
