Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet (Book 1) is a trade-paperback collection of the first four issues of the Black Panther comic book. It chronicles the current turmoil experienced by Wakanda, a fictional technologically advanced African nation. T'Challa is King of Wakanda and holds the ceremonial title of Black Panther, who is sworn to protect his country. T'Challa has been absent from his throne and has recently returned but must reckon with a number of threats facing Wakanda. This includes a man named Tetu who is leading a rebellion against the government and two women name Ayo and Aneka who are former soldiers for the king and have lost faith in him, wishing to protect Wakanda on their own terms. Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet (Book 1) addresses themes of finding one's identity, globalization, and colonial logics.
