Beast: A Novel Overview
Beast is a young adult novel of acceptance and romance by Brie Spangler in which the hulking, hairy, and unattractive 15-year-old Dylan falls in love with pretty, 15-year-old transgender Jamie. Spangler uses Beast to argue that everyone, no matter who one might, deals with some kind of pain; appearance is not everything; and that patience and understanding for one another is critical in finding our common humanity.
