Australian Air Express is a cargo airline based in Melbourne, Australia. It operates freight-only services within Australia using leased Qantas aircraft. Its main base is Melbourne Airport, with a hub at Kingsford Smith International Airport, Sydney.[1]

History
Australian Air Express was established in early 1992 and started operations on 1 August 1992. It was established as a joint venture between Australia's largest airline, Qantas (50%) and government-owned postal provider Australia Post (50%).[1] AAE use freight capacity on Qantas domestic flights and also dedicated cargo services operated on their behalf by National Jet Systems using Boeing 727 and BAe 146 aircraft. Australian air Express have begun the phasing out of the 727s and they are being replaced by specially modified/converted Boeing 737 aircraft that were formerly part of the Qantas fleet.

Australian Air Express currently operates freight services to the following domestic scheduled destinations (at June 2007): Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Gove, Groote Eylandt, Hobart, Launceston, Mackay, Melbourne, Perth, Rockhampton, Sydney and Townsville
