Ancillary Justice Overview

Ancillary Justice is a science fiction novel, and the first part of the Imperial Radch Trilogy by Ann Leckie. Within the novel, an ancillary-turned human calling herself Breq is determined to assassinate the Lord Anaander Mianaai of the Radch Empire as a measure of revenge for having Breq's former commander, Captain Awn, killed some 20 years before. "Ancillary Justice" deals with themes of human free will, gender and identity fluidity and confusion, journey as a means to discovering oneself and the truth, and the importance of revenge not defining a human life as Breq struggles with who she is, and what she is meant to do.
