Ambassador of the Shadows (Valerian), by Jean-Claude Mézières and Pierre Christin, is one in a series of graphic novels that explores the travels of two Spacio-Temporal agents, Valerian and Laureline. In this episode, Valerian and Laureline are supposed to provide support for Earth's Ambassador, who is about to make a major announcement. When the Ambassador is kidnapped, Valerian goes with him, leaving Laureline to go on a lengthy quest to rescue both Valerian and the Ambassador. The main themes are diversity and the desire for power.
