Alliance Atlantis Cinemas is a small theatre chain nominally headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia which currently operates two small urban theatres in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is jointly owned by Motion Picture Distribution LP (itself controlled by Alliance Atlantis) and by the Famous Players Theatres Unit of Cineplex Entertainment. In July 2005, following Cineplex's acquisition of main rival Famous Players Theatres, the group was put up for sale. No buyer has yet been announced, although the Fifth Avenue Cinemas location in Vancouver has already been sold to Festival Cinemas, while the University 4 Cinemas in Victoria, BC location has been sold to Empire Theatres.
