Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors Overview

When fate took a turn for the passengers of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 in October 1972, forty five people comprised of rugby players with friends and families crashed in the Andes Mountains. Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors tells the harrowing story of their fight for survival in the frozen mountains that includes death by the crash and injuries, avalanches and the eventual cannibalism of their dead friends. In December of 1972, sixteen people were rescued after two survivors made a ten day trek out of the mountains.
