Hanya Yanigahara's novel A Little Life begins as a story about four friends attending college together: JB, Malcolm, Willem, and Jude. As the narrative progresses, secrets about Jude's traumatic past are revealed at roughly the same pace as Jude's life crumbles around him because of the deep trauma with which he has never dealt. Over the course of the narrative, A Little Life deals with themes such as regret, trauma, and compassion.
